How many reps should you do?


That all depends on what you want to achieve.

Rep range 1-5
Weight 85-100% of the maximum you can lift in one repetition
Adaptation Neural
Best for… Building strength and power plus a little muscle

Rep range 6-9
Weight 75-85% of your one rep max
Adaptation Neural more than metabolic
Best for… Primarily strength but also muscle building

Rep range 10-15
Weight 70-75% of your one rep max
Adaptation Metabolic more than neural
Best for… Primarily building muscle but also strength

Rep range 15+
Weight 60-70% of your one rep max
Adaptation Metabolic
Best for… Endurance, plus building a little muscle and strength
